I was born in Singapore, where I lived my first 18 years.
I began writing simple programs at the age of 12, and also created and sold graphics add-ons for the FIFA game series around the same time (2004-2007).
I moved to Austin for my undergraduate degree and previously interned at InfoTrie, CognitiveScale and Apple Inc.
In my final year at UT, I teamed up with Mike Tulkoff to create a startup attempting to democratize text analytics, TexteDB.
After graduation, I decided that Computer Vision was going to be an important field of study and decided to pursue a Masters in Computer Vision degree at Carnegie Mellon University, turning down an offer that Google had graciously extended to me :(.
At CMU I was the founder and president of the first Computer Vision Club and performed research with Prof. Kris Kitani and Prof. Abhinav Gupta.
